The biggest announcements of E3 2019. Here’s what to expect in the coming years.

The “most anticipated games of 2021” are the 22 most anticipated games of 2022. Many different developers have announced their new game releases for the year, and some have even been released already.

PREVIEW – The year 2022 is shaping up to be one of the most momentous in gaming history, so here are the most anticipated titles for the next year. We’ve chosen 22 of this year’s releases in style.

Given that many developers and studios felt the pandemic’s effects the greatest in 2021, it was an interesting year. However, this has resulted in a video game release schedule for 2022 that is unrivaled in the industry. There are so many highly anticipated game releases scheduled for next year that even if half of them are postponed until 2022, it will still be a successful year. As a result, we should anticipate lots more games for the time being, particularly given how well the first half of the year is going.

The list also includes various limits, such as the need that games have a definite release window before 2022. As a result, titles like Final Fantasy 16 aren’t on the list since their release date is uncertain. Finally, the games with 2022 release windows are listed alphabetically after being sorted by release date and window.

The Polish studio behind Dying Light 2 will likely respond shortly, denying all the rumours.

  1. Stay Human in Dying Light 2 (4 February)

The months of February and March 2022 are unexpectedly packed with video game announcements, with the first of them being a game that many people never expected to see the light of day. Dying Light 2 Stay Human has been in the public eye for quite some time, since zombie games with numerous open areas were all the rage back in the day, and it’s back with fresh new aspirations and a breathing, alive world following the previous game. However, the undead aren’t the only threat, and it’ll be fascinating to watch how Dying Light 2 reinvents an old premise.

Dying Light 2 will be available on PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S on February 4th.

Sloclap has teamed up with a French publisher to make a shelf-stable edition of Sifu, a game based on the kung-fu fighting style.

  1. Sifu is a Japanese martial artist (8 February)

Without a question, Sifu’s initial appearance left a lasting effect. Sifu is a roguelike-style beat ’em up action-adventure game. Fatal wounds also age the protagonist, giving the typical kung fu tale of tracking down and killing an opponent who has slaughtered the protagonist’s family a novel twist. Overall, it’s gotten a lot of attention, and it’ll be fascinating to see how it stands up against the slew of video game releases scheduled for early 2022.

Sifu will be available for PC, PS4 and PS5 on February 8th.

Horizon Forbidden West is now free upgrade on PS4

  1. West of the Forbidden Horizon (18 February)

Every sequel, including this one, must build on and improve on its predecessor. Aloy’s quest continues in Horizon Forbidden West as she explores the new title location, but based on what we’ve seen thus far, it seems to add two more shovels to what we saw in the first Horizon. Everything in Horizon Forbidden West, from the battle system to the action and exploration to the skill trees and play types, seems to be on the correct track. We may also anticipate a fantastic plot, so it seems that there will be one worth seeing next year.

Horizon Forbidden West will be available for PS4 and PS5 on February 18th.

Bandai Namco and FromSoftware blew the detonator quite hard: after nearly two years of silence, they re-revealed Elden Ring, which had George R.R. Martin's involvement.

  1. Elden Ring is a fictional character created by Elden Ring (25 February)

Elden Ring, the newest Souls action-RPG from famed developer FromSoftware, is at the top of many people’s wish lists. It’s the latest in a long series of punishing, weighty games like Demon’s Souls, Dark Souls, Bloodborne, and others, yet it stands apart. FromSoftware is adapting the Souls model for an open world setting, which seems like a huge undertaking. Furthermore, the game’s director, Hidetaka Miyazaki, has praised Elden Ring as his ideal game, indicating that if everything goes well, we’re in for a great classic.

Elden Ring will be available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S on February 25th.

However, unlike previous rumours, it will not be PlayStation 5-exclusive. But, a demo for it indeed is.

  1. Final Fantasy Origins: Stranger in Paradise (18 March)

Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin places players in the shoes of Jack, Jed, and Ash as they set out to destroy Chaos, based on the themes of the original Final Fantasy game and containing certain Souls-like aspects. They’re intended to be light fighters, yet they have doubts about themselves, which lends a great twist to the concept. Classes such as Dragoon, Monk, Thief, Knight, and several Mages (White, Black, Red) occur in the game’s comprehensive employment system. Overall, it’s a one-of-a-kind approach that sticks out among the March releases.

Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin will be available for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S on March 18th.

A few days ago it was leaked that Gearbox and 2K were working on a spin-off of the saga starring Tiny Tina from Borderlands..

  1. Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands is a fantasy world created by Tiny Tina (25 March)

Borderlands and Dungeons & Dragons have long had a unique bond, with Tiny Tina’s Assault on Dragon Keep being widely regarded as one of the finest Borderlands DLCs of all time. Early next year, the same idea will be elaborated upon in Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands, where players may take on the role of a Fatemaker (this could be BRR-Zerker, Clawbringer, Spellshot, Stabbomancer, and apparently more). When you combine this focus on DnD RPG components with the Borderlands treasure and weaponry style, it seems like a crazy trip.

Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands will be available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S on March 25.

Square Enix is about to announce a proper game, Forspoken, being developed by Luminous Productions. So far it's been known as Project Athia!

  1. Unspoken (24 May)

Forspoken has raised a few eyebrows due to its focus on gameplay and open-world, as well as a narrative-driven plot with complete interoperability. Frey Holland is the protagonist, a lady who has been transferred from New York to this fantastical world and must utilize magical abilities to journey through it, maybe saving the universe and finding her way home. She also wears Cuff, a bizarre “sentient” bracelet. It’ll be fascinating to watch how this character interaction plays out. In the next months, fans should learn more about him.

Forspoken will be published on PC and PS5 on May 24th.

The Saints Row reboot has been heavily criticised by fans, but developer Volition says it

  1. Saints Row is a game about a group of people (23 August)

This year, Saints Row is receiving a relaunch, which brings the brand back to its roots. Instead of taking over the galaxy, The New Kind of Boss is forming a new gang of disgruntled members of existing gangs to overthrow Los Panteros, the Idols, and Marshall Defense Industries in Santo Ileso. Players may take control of nine distinct areas in the city and establish companies and other activities. Players may construct their own boss, and Saints Row offers a unique mission menu where completing objectives in the shared environment completes the plot. While some may have been disappointed with the approach taken, lovers of old Saints games should keep an eye out.

Saints Row will be available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S on August 23.

A cinematic trailer with the game's graphics engine allowed us to see the first preview of Starfield: Bethesda's long-awaited RPG game.

  1. Starfield is a name for a place in (11 November)

It’s rare for a developer to announce a release date more than a year in advance, but Bethesda has done so with Starfield. Probably because 11 November is a one-of-a-kind date for Bethesda, since it is also the anniversary of Skyrim, but Bethesda is certain of the date. There isn’t much information about the game yet, but fans are eager to see how Bethesda’s next IP compares to franchises like The Elder Scrolls and Fallout. As Starfield concept art accumulates over the following year, additional information will become accessible.

Starfield will be published for PC and Xbox Series X/S on November 11, 2022.

Bethesda claims that the Rambo approach isn't going to work in this game.

  1. ‘Redfall’ is a term that (third quarter 2022)

Arkane has gotten a lot of positive feedback for Deathloop this year, and they’re working on a new game on a different platform next year. Redfall is an open-world action-adventure first-person shooter that will be released next year for PC and Xbox Series X. In a Left 4 Dead-style vampire-based game, players will control one of four protagonists (cryptozoologist Devinder, telekinetic Layla, combat engineer Remi, and sniper Jacob) who will murder vampires and humans. Arkane’s reputation has already been established, and many people are eager to see how they will approach this genre.

Redfall will be available for PC and Xbox Series X/S in 2022.

It's not even derogatory to say such a thing, as the XCOM team is developing Marvel's Midnight Suns game!

  1. Midnight Suns by Marvel (2022 3Q/4Q)

Marvel + XCOM has undoubtedly garnered a lot of interest. Marvel has had a good run in recent years, not just in films but also in video games. Following the success of Spider-Man and Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy, all Marvel games are getting a lot of attention, and Marvel’s Midnight Suns is taking advantage of it. Fans may design their own customised superhero known as The Hunter and play as Iron Man, Captain America, Wolverine, Doctor Strange, Blade, Ghost Rider/Wolf, and many more, with gameplay akin to the XCOM series.

Marvel’s Midnight Suns will be available in 2022 on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.

The Lord Of The Rings: Gollum, which is going to use the Unreal Engine, is set to launch in 2021 on PC, as well as „all relevant consoles platforms at the time,” meaning it will likely target the next-gen PlayStation, the next-gen Xbox, and the stronger Nintendo Switch that was rumoured earlier this week. (Also, maybe the Google Stadia as well.)

  1. Gollum from The Lord of the Rings (Q4 2022)

Fans of the Lord of the Rings have been waiting for Gollum for a long time, but it could be worth it in the end. Everything thus far has struck all the proper notes in terms of demonstrating Gollum’s personality and his connection to the Lord of the Rings universe. The film follows Gollum prior to the events of The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit, and fans may look forward to seeing it before the end of 2022.

For PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S, The Lord of the Rings: Gollum will be published in 2022.

Allegedly, the new version of Dead Space Remake is already in development at Electronic Arts, which could be a sign of the publisher seeing money in single-player games.

  1. Space That Isn’t There (end 2022)

Because Dead Space is such a famous survival horror genre, many people were surprised to learn that a complete remake was in the works. Since the announcement, not much has been shown, but what we’ve seen so far seems to be quite promising. Much of the original game has been preserved and enhanced with new materials, models, and locations. Furthermore, it will feature Dead Space as a “uninterrupted continuous shooting” game without loading screens, thanks to the Xbox Series X and PS5 SSDs. Fans will have to wait to learn more, although the release date is presently set for late 2022.

Dead Space will be available on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S in 2022.

 A Plague Tale Requiem

  1. Requiem for a Plague Tale (2022)

A Plague Tale: Innocence’s sequel, A Plague Tale: Innocence’s sequel, A Plague Tale: Innocence’s sequel, A Plague Tale: Everything from the original is taken to the next level in Requiem. Hugo’s curse has not yet been lifted, so Amicia and Hugo continue their trek south to new areas and towns. His power still haunts them, but the brother and sister may find answers on a promised island as they go on yet another violent and sad voyage.

Plague Tale: Requiem will be released in 2022 for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S.

The game, which has been announced several years ago, was first showcased in a bit more detail at this year's E3.

  1. Avatar: Pandora’s Frontiers (2022)

Disney commissioned Ubisoft Massive to build an open-world Star Wars RPG after viewing Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora. That’s strong praise for a game that has yet to be played by the general public but is set to be launched in 2022. Frontiers of Pandora, on the other hand, looks stunning and sees players – as Na’Vi – traveling to the western border to oppose the RDA’s armies. It’s a stand-alone narrative that has nothing to do with James Cameron’s Avatar, but it has the potential to add to fans’ enthusiasm for the brand.

The PC, PS5, Stadia, and Xbox Series X/S versions of Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora will be published in 2022.

Bayonetta 3, which was announced during the 2017 The Game Awards, might have been somewhat forgotten recently.

  1. Bayonetta 3 is a sequel to Bayonetta (2022)

Although Bayonetta 2 was published in 2014, many fans had anticipated and assumed that a third installment would be released. While many gaming series fade away after eight years, in this instance, the passage of time has just added to the excitement. In September 2021, the first official Bayonetta 3 teaser was released, announcing a release date of 2022. This not only increased pre-release excitement, but it also kept many fans guessing about the universe, characters, and more.

In 2022, Bayonetta 3 will be released for Nintendo Switch.

Glen Schofield is back, and he thinks single-player games are far from being down.

  1. The Callisto Protocol is a protocol that was developed by the Callisto (2022)

Of course, a Dead Space remake isn’t the only sci-fi horror project in the works. The Callisto Protocol is a survival horror game by Dead Space co-creator Glen Schofield, and it’s set in the PUBG world, which is a bit of a surprise. The year is 2320, and the players of The Callisto Protocol have arrived at Black Iron, a dungeon colony on Jupiter’s moon Callisto. Oh, and an extraterrestrial invasion is underway, as if a prison colony in the vastness of space wasn’t terrifying enough.

The Callisto Protocol will be available on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S in 2022.

The PlayStation database might have unveiled a couple of dates prematurely.

  1. Ragnarok is a God of War game (2022)

God of War: Ragnarok is the best-kept secret of Sony and Santa Monica. It’s the second and last chapter in Kratos’ northern story, and fans have been buzzing about it for months, even before the game’s initial trailer and information dump. Many people were startled to hear that this was the last installment of the tale, since they expected a new trilogy, but this is only a continuation with more plot and action. Overall, it seems to be an epic voyage that answers all of the concerns raised by God of War in 2018, and it will be fascinating to watch how it all unfolds and the big adventure closes.

God of War: Ragnarok will be published on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 in 2022.

Warner Bros. Games Montreal (who last released Batman: Arkham Origins a whole console generation ago...) is already working on a game that will come after Gotham Knights.

  1. The Gotham Knights are a superhero team based in New York (2022)

Gotham Knights is one of several four-player cooperative games on the horizon for next year. The Owl Court and other dangers will force players to employ their Robin, Batgirl, Red Hood, and Nightwing talents to protect Gotham City. The fact that Batman is apparently dead sets the tone for an even darker scenario. For the time being, fans remain in the dark, although sources indicate that Gotham Knights will be launched early next year.

Gotham Knights will be available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S in 2022.

Hogwarts Legacy: Hogwarts Legacy has been awaited by fans around the world, and now is available for pre-order

  1. The Legacy of Hogwarts (2022)

For a long time, fans have been clamoring for a true Harry Potter RPG in which players take on the role of students at Hogwarts, and rumors of one in production have been circulating for nearly as long. For a long time, trailer leaks and other leaks have made this more definite, only to announce that Hogwarts Legacy is finally in production. The release date for Hogwarts Legacy has been pushed back to 2022, but for fans of the series who have been waiting so long for this game, it will most likely be worth the wait. It will be fascinating to observe how the years of waiting and hoping come to a close.

In 2022, Hogwarts Legacy will be released on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.

Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League will share its universe with the Batman Arkham series, while Gotham Knights will not.

  1. Kill the Justice League with the Suicide Squad (2022)

So far, all we know about Suicide Squad: Kill has been disclosed. As they face different members of the Justice League under Brainiac’s influence, the Justice League is tremendously intriguing and appealing. As part of the titular Suicide Squad, gamers will take on the roles of Harley Quinn, Deadshot, Captain Boomerang, and/or King Shark sometime next year. This will surely lead to clashes with Superman (including the Green Lantern, the Flash and potentially even Batman). It will be worth the wait if the game does a good job of presenting this.

In 2022, Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League will be released on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S.

The big N is tightlipped about it, though (they likely don't even have decided about the final title of the game), but we have seen a bit of it: let's head to the sky.

  1. Breath of the Wild 2 is the sequel to Zelda: Breath of the Wild (2022)

Last but not least, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2 (or whatever the sequel is called). The year 2022 showed on screen at the conclusion of the most recent teaser, and although it may sound like a pipe dream, there’s a good potential that gamers will be able to explore Hyrule next year. If that’s the case, Nintendo fans will be in paradise next year, with titles like Bayonetta, Kirby, Zelda, and more – which isn’t unexpected since Nintendo games led several sales lists in 2021.
