13th Gen Intel Core “Raptor Lake-S” CPUs Rumored for Late Q3 2022 Launch, Up to 15% ST and 40% MT Performance Gains

Intel has unveiled their latest CPUs, the 13th Gen Intel Core “Raptor Lake-S” series. This is a new platform that will offer up to 40% more performance than previous gen processors, with an emphasis on gaming and streaming applications. Raptor Lake-S is also rumored to be able to reach 15% ST performance gains over its predecessor using only 5 watts higher power draw.

According to recent claims from leaker Moore’s Law Is Dead, Intel’s 13th Gen Core desktop CPUs, codenamed “Raptor Lake-S,” will arrive in late Q3 this year.

The 13th Gen Intel Core “Raptor Lake-S” CPUs are likely to be released in late Q3 2022, followed by the mobile H/HX/U “Raptor Lake-H” series in the fourth quarter of this year, according to the leaker. In addition to the alleged debut dates, MILD says that Intel’s next generation of desktop Core processors would provide single-thread performance improvements of up to 15% and multi-threaded performance improvements of up to 40%.

While these estimates have yet to be validated, they are consistent with Intel’s assertion that Raptor Lake CPUs would provide double-digit performance gains. The 13th Gen Core processor family, based on the Intel 7 technology node and having the same performance hybrid architecture as the current Alder Lake series, will include SKUs with up to 24 cores/32 threads and compatibility with the LGA 1700 socket.

Intel 13th Gen Raptor Lake CPUs Bring Up To 15% Single & 40% Multi-Thread Performance Gains In Q3 2022 To Tackle AMD Ryzen 7000 ‘Zen 4’ Chips (Wccftech)

Intel will maintain 8 P-Cores in its design, which will be updated to the new core architecture for better performance, while the E-Core architecture will be a somewhat improved version of the current Gracemont cores, with a core count of 16 instead of 8.
The launch will position the 13th Gen CPUs against AMD’s Ryzen 7000 ‘Zen 4’ parts. Ryzen 7000 is going to find itself in a very interesting position where it’s tackling both 13th Gen Raptor Lake CPUs on one end & soon after launch, it will have to compete against 14th Gen Meteor Lake CPUs too which are also expected to bring an impressive performance update for both desktop & mobile platforms.
The lineup will be made up of three portions, according to previously released data from the latest power recommendations. These include 125W enthusiast SKUs, 65W mainstream SKUs, and 35W low-power SKUs from the ‘K’ series. The top-end variations will have up to 24 cores, with 16 core, 10 core, 4 core, and 2 core variants following.
